The Norwegian royal family mourns Princess Ragnhild

The Norwegian Royal Court announced today that Princess Ragnhild, Mrs Lorentzen died at her home in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at 9.45am on 16 September 2012. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the royal palace in Oslo, Norway, at a yet unknown time. She will be buried at Asker church.

She was born at the Royal Palace in Oslo, Norway, on 9 June 1930 as eldest child of King Olav V of Norway and his wife Märtha, born Princess of Sweden. On 15 May 1953 she married the Norwegian commoner Erling Sven Lorentzen at Asker. Afterwards she was named Princess Ragnhild, Mrs Lorentzen.

She is survived by her husband, her three children Haakon, Ingeborg and Ragnhild, their partners, as well as by six grandchildren.
