Two royals appeared in live television shows this weekend.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway attended the German charity gala “Ein Herz für Kinder” (a heart for children), in Berlin. She was the guest of honour and received the “goldenen Herz” (golden heart), because of her help to children in the whole world. Surprisingly she held her speech in German. Last year Princess Charlène of Monaco won the prize, and also Prince Harry of Wales and Queen Silvia of Sweden are among the previous winners. See for the tv-broadcast here.
On Sunday evening the Duchess of Cambridge had her first official engagement after the announcement of her pregnancy. She presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sebastian, baron Coe at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony. She also presented the top prize to cyclist Bradley Wiggins and the second prize athlete Jessica Ennis. The Duchess only attended part of the show. For videos see BBC and NOS.
